We are Digital Citizens

We are having fun learning about internet safety.

First Grade: Internet Traffic Light - Learning which sites are ok and which are no way.

Second Grade: Digital Citizenship Pledge - We can use the internet safely.

Third Grade: Rings of Responsibility - What we say and do has a ripple effect. We are responsible to ourselves, our community and our world.

Fourth Grade: Private and Personal Information - What can I share online? What should I keep to myself?

Fifth Grade: What is Cyberbullying? - How to be a good digital citizen and an upstander.

Kindergarten comes in beginning the week of September 23rd. We will begin with understanding what the library is and reflecting on the rules.

Don't forget: After school library begins September 26th. We are open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:05 to 2:25. Look forward to seeing you soon!

Welcome Back to School

Hello Students,

Welcome back to the 2019-2020 school year. I have been so happy to see so many returning students. It has also been great meeting new kids. This week we have focused on refreshing our knowledge of rules and enjoying some great books.
First grade has enjoyed the book School's First Day of School. They played a name game to practice becoming a community.
Second and third grades both enjoyed The Library Lion. They learned where they will be sitting and prepared cards for this year.
Fourth and fifth grades are getting ready to make rule videos for the younger students. They put themselves into groups and watched a sample video of how to take care of a library book. They also checked out a library book.

Next week second and third grades will check out a book. First grade will check out the week of September 16th.

After school library begins on September 24. Remember after school library is every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:05 to 2:25. I'm looking forward to seeing you there!

East Bay Coalition for Education has also planned a rally to take place on April 3 from 12 to 1:30 at the Capitol Mall in Sacramento. Please come help us fight for more funding for our public schools. 

Projects Beginning Soon

All Second through Fifth Grade students will begin a spring project soon. This year the focus will be on global awareness. We will be using Google Earth to learn and teach others what we know. So far, I have introduced the students to Google Earth and related resources and the students have been excited about visiting new places around the planet.
Kindergarten students began checkout this week. They are so excited to bring their books to class. It is amazing how far they have come this year.
First grade will also be exploring Google Earth. They will be learning about their place in the world. 
We just finished voting for the California Young Reader Medal. Our school's results will be posted on the right shortly.
Read Across America is on Saturday, March 2. Don't forget to spend a portion of the day discovering the love of reading.
